Company Spotlight: We Energies
We Energies serves more than 1.1 mil-lion electric customers in Wisconsin and Michigan's Upper Peninsula and more than 1 million natural gas customers in Wisconsin. Our energy prices are ap-proximately 10 percent below the aver-age for major U.S. cities. We Energies is the trade name of Wisconsin Electric Power Company and Wisconsin Gas LLC, the principal utility subsidiaries of Wisconsin Energy Corporation (NYSE: WEC). Visit the We Energies Web site at www.we-energies.com. Learn more about Wisconsin Energy Corporation by visiting www.wisconsinenergy.com.
For the fifth time in the past six years, We Energies was named the winner of the ReliabilityOne award in the Mid-west region for the superior reliability of its electric system based on performance for the year 2006. The Re-liabilityOne award is given annually by PA Consulting Group to utilities that have excelled in delivering reliable electric service to their customers.
Since 2000, We Energies' Power the Future program has been investing in additional power generation, improving existing power plants and adding addi-tional renewable energy resources.
Coal-based generating units at Port Washington Power Plant are being re-placed with two natural-gas-based units, and two additional coal-based units are under construction at the Oak Creek expansion project. The new gen-eration will be added in phases through the year 2010.
The Blue Sky Green Field wind pro-ject is located in the towns of Calumet and Marshfield in northeast Fond du Lac County. The wind project will consist of 88 wind turbines and is being designed to generate 145 megawatts (MW) of electricity. Con-struction began in June 2007 and is anticipated to be completed within one year from the start of activities.
We Energies currently has approxi-mately 4,800 employees. At the pre-sent time, there are employment op-portunities for Co-Op Engineers in our Gas Operations, Electric Distribution and Power Generation areas.
